It is widely known problem, that the financial situation of public universities is dramatic. Universities lack money and students lack specified plans for the future. University is still treated as place to pass few years in good company. We need to change that and a key to this problem is payment for higher education.
Higher education shape our future and should be planned in advance. Unfortunately young people have very often difficulties to decide what to study. It is mainly because higher education is free for most of youngsters. It is common that we take for granted something we do not have to pay for. In the United States parents think of education of their children as an investment. If education cost, more people would think before choosing their education course.
More money invested in the higher education means better education. Public universities have to struggle with many trivial problems that private universities do not have, such as lack of stuff and place. Modern university can educate on higher lever and prepare its students to approach the job market. But modernizing universities requires funds and those can be found only if more students will pay for education. Even nowadays universities can be maintained thanks to evening students. Finally we should address the problem of number of people allowed to free education. Places for those who should not pay for studies must be strictly limited and even then they should be monitored during their studies. Free education is a privilege and it should be granted only to few.
To sum up it should be said that free university education is a privilege widely extended on a large number of students. It is whit a loss to both of the sides: university, that can not provide students with better education, and students who should treat their studies more seriously. The solution is simply to pay for education although it is a painful solution.
